This humorous illustration is from the series Heath Robinson drew between 1932-33 entitled “Flat Life” for 'The Sketch' an illustrated weekly newspaper  which depicted various gadgets designed to make the most of the limited space available in the contemporary flat. This series of drawings became the inspiration for a full-length book in 1936, 'How to Live in a Flat' co-authored with KRG Browne.
