Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales originally appeared in batches each Christmas in the mid-19th century, and Spink's English translation was first published in 1906. Heath Robinson illustrated three editions of the Anderson stories, the second in collaboration with his two brothers. It is the drawings for the third of these, first published in 1913 , when he had become an establishes artist, that are reproduced here.
